Collaborative Research
Chikazoe Laboratory actively promotes collaborative research with industry partners and research institutions.
Our group combines functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with pattern analysis, machine learning, and other computational approaches to investigate how sensory information from the five senses is transformed into subjective value in the brain.
Building on our research findings and analytical methods, we are exploring potential applications in predicting individual preferences, evaluating subjective experiences, and developing novel information-processing technologies.
Potential Research Topics
We are interested in exploring collaborative research opportunities in areas such as the following:
- Artificial Intelligence for Predicting Individual Preferences — Developing machine learning models that capture individual differences in preferences and subjective value, with potential applications to product and content recommendation and personalized services.
- Affective Evaluation of Products and Services — Analyzing subjective ratings and behavioral data to quantitatively assess people's impressions and preferences regarding products and services. Potential applications include prototype evaluation, product comparison, and product development.
- Individual Differences in Preferences Across the Five Senses — Investigating individual differences in preferences for visual, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, and tactile stimuli, as well as the neural processes through which sensory information is transformed into subjective value. This research may contribute to the design of products and experiences that account for individual preferences.
- Development of Novel Technologies Integrating Neuroscience and AI — Applying machine learning to fMRI and other brain imaging data to develop new analytical and evaluation methods, including the estimation of neural representations, prediction of individual traits, and investigation of potential biomarkers for psychiatric and neurological disorders.
These are examples of potential research topics. We welcome opportunities to explore new research directions by combining our expertise with the technologies, datasets, and research interests of prospective collaborators.
Collaboration Process
We begin by discussing your research interests, objectives, or challenges to explore potential directions and assess the feasibility of a collaborative project.
The research objectives, scope of work, research team, project duration, costs, and arrangements for handling data and research outcomes will be determined through discussions between the parties involved.
Research agreements and related administrative procedures will be conducted in accordance with Hiroshima University's regulations and policies.
